Super Bowl XXVII, held on January 31, 1993, was a spectacle of football greatness that showcased the clash of two talented teams—the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills. The iconic Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, provided the perfect backdrop for this showdown.

From the start of the game, the Bills looked like they were on their way to reverseing their bad luck of the previous two Super Bowls. Thurman Thomas and the Bills struck first with a 2 yard TD run. However, that was the extent of the Bills controlling the game as the Cowboys would outscore them 52-10 the rest of the way. A quick TD pass by Cowboys' star quarterback Troy Aikman to Jay Novacek knotted up the game at 7-7.

The Cowboys defense was relentless early and often. They forced a fumble and returned it for a score to go up 14-7. That unit, led by defensive end Charles Haley, kept the pressure on Bills' QB Jim Kelly, sacking him mulitple times and intercepting him twice before he left the game. Although Thomas had the early score, he couldn't get going, only rushing for 19 yards the entire game.

In the second quarter, Aikman and wide receiver Michael Irvin connected on two TD passes to give the Cowboys a commanding 28-10 lead going into halftime.

The second half continued to showcase Dallas' dominance, with their offense and defense working in perfect harmony. The Cowboys kept the pressure on, extending their lead with each passing quarter, while Buffalo found it increasingly challenging to mount a comeback.

As the clock wound down, the outcome was clear. The Dallas Cowboys claimed a resounding victory, with a final score of 52-17. The jubilant Cowboys celebrated their well-deserved win, capturing their first Super Bowl title since Super Bowl XII. Aikman was named Super Bowl MVP, going 22/30 for 273 yards and 4 TDs. Emmitt rushed the ball 22 times for 108 yards and Irvin caught 6 passes for 114 yards.

On the other hand, the Buffalo Bills suffered their third straight Super Bowl defeat at the hands of an NFC East opponent. The margin of defeat has gotten larger with each loss. They became the second team in NFL history to make three straight Super Bowl appearances (Miami Dolphins Super Bowl VI-VIII).
