Super Bowl XI took place on January 9, 1977, between the Oakland Raiders and the Minnesota Vikings. The game was held at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California. The Raiders emerged victorious, winning their first Super Bowl championship under head coach John Madden with a final score of 32-14.

The game started with the Raiders taking control early on, as quarterback Ken Stabler threw a touchdown pass to TE Dave Casper to go up 10-0 in the second quarter. After a short TD run by Pete Banaszak, the Radiers took a commanding 16-0 lead into halftime.

The Vikings finally got on the board in the 3rd quarter when quarterback Fran Tarkenton hit Sammy White for a TD to cut the lead to 19-7.

However, that was as close as the Vikings would get in this contest. The Raiders dominated the rest of the game. Their offense, led by Stabler and running back Banaszak, couldn't be stopped. Banaszak scored two rushing touchdowns, while Stabler was efficient going 12/18 for 180 yards and 1 TD. Fred Biletnikoff had 4 catches for 79 yards and was named Super Bowl MVP.

The Vikings struggled to mount a comeback, thanks to the Raiders' defense. They had a great game plan against Tarkenton, forcing him to have a subpar day completing the ball and throwing two interceptions. One interception by Willie Brown was returned 75 yards for a score. With the victory, the Raiders evened their Super Bowl record at 1-1, they lost Super Bowl II to the Green Bay Packers. On the other hand, head coach Bud Grant and the Minnesota Viking fell to 0-4 in Super Bowls.
