Super Bowl IX was played on January 12, 1975, between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings. The game took place at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Pittsburgh Steelers won their first-ever Super Bowl title by defeating the Minnesota Vikings with a score of 16-6.

The Steelers' dominant defense, known as the "Steel Curtain," dominated the game. They forced five turnovers and held the Vikings to just 17 yards rushing.

Steelers' running back Franco Harris was named the game's Most Valuable Player (MVP). He rushed for 158 yards on 34 carries and scored the game's only touchdown on a 9-yard run.

The Vikings struggled to move the ball effectively, and their quarterback, Fran Tarkenton, was under constant pressure from the Steelers' defense from the beginning. The first points of the game was a result of a safety as the defense swarmed toward Tarkenton in the end zone. They held the Vikings to a total of 119 yards. The only score by the Vikings in the game came courtesy of a blocked punt recovered for a TD.

The Super Bowl IX victory kick-started a dynasty for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who went on to win a total of four Super Bowls in the 1970s.
