The game took place at the historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, and it's remembered for its thrilling moments and the unforgettable performance of running back John Riggins.

The Dolphins got the scoring started with a bang. Quarterback David Woodley and Jimmy Cefalo connected on a 76-yard TD pass. The big plays didn't stop for the AFC champions. After the Redskins tied the game up at 10-10, Fulton Walker returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards to give the Dolphins a 17-10 lead at halftime.

The second half became legendary due to a remarkable turning point. With the Redskins trailing 17-13 in the fourth quarterr, they executed one of the most iconic plays in Super Bowl history. On a 4th and 1 play, running back John Riggins received a handoff and bulldozed through the Miami defense, breaking tackles and racing 43 yards for a game-changing touchdown. The Redskins' defense also stepped up in the second half, containing the Dolphins' offense and preventing them from scoring any points after halftime.
