Super Bowl VII was played on January 14, 1973, between the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Redskins. It was a highly anticipated matchup as the Dolphins were undefeated in the regular season and looking to complete a perfect season.

The game took place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The Miami Dolphins' defense dominated the game, preventing the Washington Redskins from scoring any touchdowns on offense. The Dolphins' QB Bob Griese opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 28 yard TD pass to Howard Twilley.

In the second quarter, a Miami INT gave them the ball in Washington territory. The Dolphins scored a few plays later when Jim Kiick punched it in on a 1-yard TD run. This extended the Dolphins' lead to 14-0. The Washington Redskins' defense played well, but their offense struggled to gain momentum.

In the fourth quarter, the Dolphins' defense continued to stifle Washington's offense, and the game ended with a final score of 14-7 in favor of the Miami Dolphins. The Redskins got their lone score on a field goal attempt that went awry. If the Dolphins would've made that field goal, the final score might have been 17-0. Instead, the Redskins returned it for a TD. With this victory, the Dolphins completed a perfect season, becoming the first and only team in NFL history to achieve a perfect 17-0 record.

The Super Bowl VII MVP award went to Jake Scott, who had two interceptions and played a crucial role in the Dolphins' victory. The Dolphins' head coach, Don Shula, who was on the wrong end of two other Super Bowls, finally won his first in historic fashion.

It's worth noting that Super Bowl VII was part of a remarkable run by the Miami Dolphins, who won back-to-back Super Bowls in 1972 and 1973, establishing themselves as one of the most dominant teams of that era.
