Super Bowl XIX was held on January 20, 1985, between the San Francisco 49ers and the Miami Dolphins. The game took place at Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California. It was a highly anticipated matchup between two legendary quarterbacks, Joe Montana for the 49ers and Dan Marino for the Dolphins.

The 49ers dominated the game, showcasing their high-powered offense led by Montana. After the Dolphins took a 10-7 lead in the second quarter, the 49ers scored three consecutive touchdowns to take a commanding 28-10 lead. The Dolphins added two field goals in the second to inch closer but had a two touchdown deficit heading into halftime.

 

 

The 49ers defense shut out the high flying Dolphins offense in the second half while the 49ers added a TD and FG. The final score was 38-16 in favor of the San Francisco 49ers, giving them their second Super Bowl championship in franchise history. The Dolphins fell to 2-3 in Super Bowls.

Montana threw for 331 yards and three touchdowns, earning him the Super Bowl MVP award. Running back Roger Craig also had a standout performance, rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown. Marino threw for 318 yards and a touchdown, but the league's highest scoring team could only muster one TD in the game.
