Super Bowl XXXV took place on January 28, 2001, between the Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants. The game was held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Ravens emerged victorious, defeating the Giants with a final score of 34-7.

The Ravens' record setting defense was the highlight of the game, and season, as they held the Giants to just seven points. Baltimore's defense forced five turnovers, including four interceptions, and recorded four sacks. One interception was returned for a TD by cornerback Duane Starks. Linebacker Ray Lewis was named the game's Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his exceptional defensive performance.

The Ravens' offense, led by quarterback Trent Dilfer, contributed with efficient and timely plays. They capitalized on the turnovers forced by their defense and scored points off of them. Running back Jamal Lewis rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown, while wide receiver Brandon Stokley caught a 38-yard touchdown pass early to give the Raven a 7-0 lead.

 

 

 

On the other hand, the Giants struggled to establish an offensive rhythm. Quarterback Kerry Collins threw four interceptions, and their lone touchdown came on a Ron Dixon 97-yard kickoff return in the third quarter. The Ravens' Jermaine Lewis countered by returned the ensuing kickoff 84 yards for a score. A total dominating effort from start to finish by the Ravens.

Super Bowl XXXV marked the first championship win for the Baltimore Ravens franchise. The victory solidified their reputation as one of the best defensive teams in NFL history. It was the Giants first loss in Super Bowl history.
