Steve Nash NBA Career Stats and Notes

Nash would play for the Mavericks for six years before returning to the Suns via free agency in 2004. The second stint started off fantastic for Nash, who would win back to back NBA MVP honors. He played for the Suns until 2012. The Suns traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers where Nash would spend his final two seasons in the NBA. Steve Nash MVP Seasons
Up until 2004, Steve Nash’s career wasn’t showing promises of greatness. He was a good point guard among great talents like Jason Kidd, Tony Parker and Chauncey Billups. However, his return to Phoenix changed the trajectory of his career.
The next two years, Steve Nash elevated his game to another level, earning consecutive NBA MVP honors. He was the first point guard to win back to back MVPs since Lakers legend Magic Johnson did it in 1989 and 1990. In the 2004 and 2005 seasons, Nash averaged 15 points and 11 assists and 18 points and 10 assists, respectively. But it wasn’t just the stats. He instantly made the Suns the top team in the West, including a 33 game win improvement in his first year back over the previous season.
