John Anthony Randle was born on December 12, 1967 in Mumford, TX. He is the son of Martha Randle and Edward Wilson. Raised primarily by his mother, John grew up in very humble beginnings. For all of his childhood, he didn’t have indoor plumbing or basic bathroom amenities in his house. John saw how hard his mother worked to provide for him and his siblings. That strong work ethic was something he inherited and made him one of the best defensive linemen in the 1990s.

Randle attended Hearne High School. He played defensive lineman but didn’t garner any attention from major programs for two reasons. One reason was due to his size as he was considered small for a defensive lineman at the next level. Another reason was his grades. Even if he was offered scholarships he wouldn’t have qualified for college right out of high school.

The determined Randle took the road less traveled to greatness and enrolled into Trinity Valley Community College. After two years and earning Junior College All-American honors during his sophomore season, Randle accepted a college scholarship to Texas A&I-Kingsville.
