Brett Favre was born on October 10, 1969 in Gulfport, MS. He is one of four children of Bonita and Irvin Favre. Brett was raised in Kiln, MS and played football and baseball growing up. His father was a baseball and football coach as well. He noticed his son's arm strength at an early age and quarterback was the perfect position for him.

Favre played both baseball and football for Hancock North Central High School. He didn’t put up tremendous passing stats as his team ran a run dominant offense. As a result he didn’t garner much attention to receive a lot of scholarship offers. The one scholarshp offer he got was to the University of Southern Mississippi, and he accepted it.

Brett Favre College Career Stats and Notes

Southern Miss recruited Favre to play defense but he wanted to remain at quarterback.  He worked hard and moved up the QB depth chart. By the time his freshman season started he was the third string quarterback. A few games into the season, he was put into the second half of a game and helped the Eagles pull off the win. From there Favre took over the starting job and didn’t look back. Favre finished his Southern Miss career with 7,695 passing yards and 52 TDs.

Brett Favre NFL Career Stats and Notes

Favre was selected in the 2nd round (33rd overall) of the 1991 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. However his Falcons' career never materialized and he was traded the next year to the Green Bay Packers.

On September 27, 1992 in a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Favre made his first NFL start. The Packers won that game and he began a streak of an NFL record 297 starts in a row. During this tremendous streak, Favre put up Hall of Fame numbers while becoming a 3-time NFL MVP and leading the Pack to back to back Super Bowl appearances (won Super Bowl XXXI). His streak spanned two other teams, and ended as he sat for a December 2010 Monday Night game as a member of the Minnesota Vikings due to injury. He would retire at the end of the 2010 season, holding nearly every major NFL passing record. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.

Brett Favre 2003 Monday Night Football Game vs Oakland Raiders

With all the MVP honors, Super Bowl appearances and late game heroics, probably Brett Favre’s most memorable moment came on December 22, 2003, a Monday Night game against the Oakland Raiders. The day before the game, Favre’s father passed away. With a heavy heart, Favre played an extraordinary game under the bright lights. He was 22-30 for 399 yards with 4 TDs in an emotional 41-7 romp on the road over the Raiders.
