Wilt Chamberlain Iconic 1961-62 NBA Season

With a height of 7 feet and the physicality he brought, Chamberlain was unstoppable at time during his legendary career. The numbers he put up routinely were mythical compared to today’s NBA. His 1961-62 season was so extraordinary that it is almost impossible to believe it was real. He averaged 50.4 points and 25.7 rebounds per game! During this season Wilt had 40+ games in which he topped 50 points. This included games of 73, 78 and on March 2, 1962, Wilt went off and set an NBA record with 100 points in a game against the New York Knicks! He scored over 4,000 points this season, second closest is 3,041 set by Michael Jordan during the 1986-87 season. It was a different game then but there hasn’t been a more dominant scoring season in the NBA.
