Patrick Ewing and the New York Knicks in the 1990s
Ewing’s career in New York was an exceptional one. However, timing was everything when it came to winning an NBA championship. During the height of his career in the 1990s, the Knicks were a perennial playoff contender, making the postseason every year. They were always a threat to make the conference or NBA Finals.
However those years coincided with Michael Jordan and the Bulls’ six NBA championships in 8 years. The one time Ewing finally was an Eastern Conference champion, he went up against Hakeem Olajuwon and the Houston Rockets in the 1994 NBA Finals. The series went seven games and with the final contest in Houston, the battle between the two future Hall of Famers went to Olajuwon. Although he never won a NBA championship, Ewing’s legacy will forever be attached to the great Knicks’ teams of the 90s.
