Bird Steals Game 5 of 1987 Eastern Conference Finals
Bird provided one of the greatest moments in NBA history in Game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Conference finals against the Detroit Pistons. His team trailed 107-106 late in the 4th and the Pistons were inbounding the ball near the Celtics basket. As the pass entered play, The three-time MVP stole it and passed the ball to Hall of Fame teammate Dennis Johnson for the winning layup. The sequence of events on this play, including the playcall, makes it one of the iconic plays of the 1980s. Larry Legend's late game heroics propelled the Celtics to win 108-107 and ultimately take the Eastern Conference crown in seven.
