Bernard King was born on December 4, 1956 in Brooklyn, New York. He is the son of Thelma and Thomas King. His parents were devout church goers, and that made it hard for King to play basketball at will. With problems at home growing up, basketball became an outlet for King.
King attended Fort Hamilton High School. He was considered one of the best basketball players in New York. His play earned him a college scholarship to the University of Tennessee.

Bernard King 1985 NBA Scoring Champion
King’s career had been up and down due to different reasons but there was no denying his ability to score. During the 1984-85 season, King showed what most believed he could’ve been his entire career. He averaged 32.9 points a game, securing the league’s scoring title. However, King would suffer a devastating knee injury late in the year which forced him to miss the remained of the season and the following season. Sadly, the injury changed the course of King’s career forever.
