Alex English NBA Career Stats and Notes
English was selected 23rd overall in the 1976 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks. He spent two seasons with the Bucks and Indiana Pacers before spending the entire 1980s in Denver. After eleven years with the Nuggets, English spent one more season in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks. He would retire from professional basketball after playing one season overseas. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997.
Alex English Denver Nuggets Career
English’s career got off to a rocky start as he played for three teams in his first four seasons. However, Denver was where English found stability and was able to showcase a Hall of Fame career. He was a gifted scorer, averaging no less than 21 points during the 1980s, including winning the scoring title during the 1982-83 season. A perennial All-Star, English led the Nuggets to the playoffs most of the decade. It was a tough time for the Nuggets and most teams in the West during the Showtime Era as only the Lakers (8) and Houston Rockets (2) made it to the Finals during the decade. English is still the Nuggets all-time leader in points and assists.
