Paul Leo Molitor was born on August 22, 1956 in St. Paul, MN. He is the son of Kathleen and Richard Molitor. One of eight children, Paul got into sports early with the guidance of his father. He got into organization used baseball while in grade school, and his father put in the extra time by playing catch. Baseball was Paul’s passion and he dreamt one day as a young Minnesota Twins fan thar he would play in the majors. Not only did his dream come true, he ended up being one of the best to play in his era.

He earned all-state honors in basketball and baseball. At the end of his senior year, Molitor was sought out by the St. Louis Cardinals. However, he turned them down and instead headed to the University of Minnesota on a baseball scholarship.
